NEWS AND EVENTS

Fordham Law School’s Third Annual Film Festival - October 17 - 23, 2008

Fordham Law School's Forum on Law, Culture & Society will host Fordham Law School's 3rd Annual Film Festival starting on October 17 and running through October 23.  The six-day run will be opened on October 17 with the HBO Films presentation, “Recount,” and a conversation with David Boies, who represented Vice President Al Gore in the election-deciding Bush v. Gore; Ron Klain, former Gore Chief of Staff; Benjamin Ginsberg, counsel to the Bush-Cheney presidential campaign; and Fordham Law Professor Abner Greene, author of Understanding the 2000 Election: A Guide to the Legal Battles that Decided the Presidency.

“The Festival offers a unique setting for New Yorkers to discuss the always alluring ways in which the legal system is portrayed through feature films and documentaries, and how various themes of justice and injustice continue to inspire the artistic imagination and resonate throughout the broader culture,” said Thane Rosenbaum, who directs the Forum and is the John Whelan Distinguished Lecturer in Law at Fordham Law School.

The Film Festival, which runs through October 23 and is supported by HBO, also includes showings of “Lenny,” “The Paper Chase,” “The Confession,” “Philadelphia” and “Adam’s Rib.”

The films and post-screening discussions are free and open to the public. For more information, please call 212.636.7295 or visit
