  • New York City Marathon: Sunday November 2, 2014 - Impact on Lincoln Square

    October 29, 2014

We have been notified by the City of New York, the New York Road Runners (NYRR) and the producers of the New York City Marathon that this year's marathon, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 2, will once again have a major impact on Lincoln Square.

Just like last year, the marathon will have increased security measures and other restrictions (street closures and no parking) in place in the days leading up to the event. Many streets, mostly east of Broadway and Columbus Avenue between 59th & 85th Streets will be closed to vehicular traffic. There will be no parking on Central Park West and many other streets, and limited public access as the Family Reunion Area will be located on Central Park West between West 60th and West 66th Streets.

It is our understanding that pedestrian access to residential buildings and commercial establishments on the restricted blocks will be granted by the NYPD with proof of residence by driver's license.

There is one major addition to this year's marathon that will clearly impact our businesses and residents: Broadway will be completely closed to traffic, in both directions, from Columbus Circle to West 65th Street on Sunday, November 2 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Click here to see the documents provided by NYRR, which detail the street closures and parking restrictions. Please make sure that you notify all of your employees, commercial tenants and residents. READ

    October 17, 2014

We have been informed by the New York City Police Department that there will be a protest on Monday, October 20, 2014, between the hours of 4:00pm and 8:00pm in and around Dante Park (across from Lincoln Center between 63rd and 64th Street), in connection with The Metropolitan Opera's Opening Night Performance of The Death of Klinghoffer. It is our understanding that the NYPD expects 3,000-4,000 people to attend, with protesters gathering at approximately 2:00pm. The parking lane alongside Columbus Avenue between 63rd and 64th Street will be cordoned off with police barricades, which may be moved further west to close traffic lanes if necessary. It is also our understanding that there will be a platform set up in the parking lane on the west side of Dante Park (Columbus Avenue) near West 63rd Street. READ
